Business research conference: Call for integrating Islamic teachings in all business activities

Speakers stress the need to innovate business practices.

Speakers at a seminar on Monday called for integrating Islamic teachings in all business activities in Muslim societies, to serve as a role model for other nations of the world.


Speaking at the second day of the Fourth International Business Research Conference at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Salman Siddiqui underscored the need to adopt Islamic teachings of honesty and ethics in all business and economic activities.

Siddiqui said, “Islam being the complete code of life, has given guideline not only for our spiritual lives, but it has formulated the worldly lives as well”. He said that innovation in business practices and entrepreneurship in light of Islamic principles will help create maximum employment opportunities, which in turn will cater for the young graduates.


He appreciated the role of the IIUI in conducting studies of management sciences to cope with the requirements of the modern day world in light of Islamic teachings. He also called upon researchers and faculty members to “polish skills of the youth to shoulder future responsibilities”.

Other speakers, including IIUI acting president Dr Sajidur Rehman and faculty members Dr Zaheer Abbas, Dr Bashir Ahmad, Dr Sadia Nadim and Dr Tahir Masood also spoke on the occasion.

On the first day of the conference, a number of local and foreign scholars of management sciences presented their studies explaining various methodologies of research and innovation in the business and development sector, which they said are essential for creating employment opportunities. The conference was organised by the IIUI’s Faculty of Management Sciences.

Those who presented their papers on the first day of the conference include Mehwish Gillani on “Workaholism: Measuring Self-Esteem and Self-Awareness”, Muhammad Abbas on “Combined Effects of Affectivity and Job Satisfaction on Job Performance and Turnover Intentions”, Siddrah Irfan on “Gender Stereotype & Selection of Women as Managers”, Fauzia Syed on “Conflict Management Styles of Women in Education”.
