LAHORE: Traders of Hall Road on Saturday filed a contempt of court petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Lahore District Coordination Officer, Punjab Home Secretary and Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab, accusing them of not implementing a court order banning protests on The Mall.

The traders, who have filed the petition through their president Babar Meer, state that nurses have been holding frequent protests on The Mall and have kept the road blocked for several hours.

Meer states that the LHC in an earlier order had held that violators of the ban would be dealt with according to the law, but the nurses had been holding protest and the government was playing the role of a silent spectator.

He said the DCO, home secretary and the IG were equal participants in the violation of court orders. He prayed to the court to ensure action against violators under contempt of court charges.
