ISLAMABAD:
Delegations from Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and the UNHCR met here for the latest round of talks on a multi-year strategy for Afghan refugee populations in the region. This was the third time the participants met ahead of the International Conference on a Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees, which is planned for early 2012, said a press release issued on Thursday. Some two million registered Afghan refugees remain in Pakistan with a further one million in Iran. Next year’s conference will seek international support for a multi-year strategy to address the world’s most protracted refugee situation.
