Sherry as Ambassador: ‘MNA can’t be nominated’
Petition filed in the LHC challenging Sherry Rehman’s nomination as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States.
LAHORE:
A civil petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging Sherry Rehman’s nomination as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States. Advocate Mohammad Azhar Siddique filed the application submitting that Rehman could not be made ambassador as she was still a member of the National Assembly (MNA). He said it was unlawful to appoint her to another public office until she tendered her resignation from the assembly. The petition will be heard by Justice Khalid Mehmood of the LHC today.
