Painting exhibition: Depicting social, cultural issues through art
A total of 92 art pieces were displayed at the event.

Organised with an aim of promoting art and culture in the militancy-hit province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), a two-day painting exhibition concluded at Iranian Consulate (Khana-e-Farhang) on Thursday.
A total of 92 paintings, sketches and sculptures were displayed in the exhibition which aimed to encourage students of K-P to come forward and display their talent.
A large number of students participated in the event, which depicted the history, culture and social fabric of the province through spectacular paintings of historical buildings and prominent figures.
“I really like the painting which portrays a depressed woman who has covered her face. It shows that women in our society are suppressed and do not enjoy the same kind freedom which men do,” said a visitor, Maria.
“The artists has used a great colour combination to portray the true picture of our society, which shows how talented our youth is,” said Farwa Javed, another visitor.
K-P Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the event and said the young artists are “true assets of the country”.
He also said that the government has reopened the Nishtar Hall (which was shut down earlier due to deteriorating law and order conditions) to encourage cultural activities in the province, where several Iranian and Afghani exhibitions and concerts were held.
He urged the students to highlight social issues and promote peace, love and culture through their productive work.
