Unpaid bills: KESC threatens to cut off KWSB
Threatened to cut off the power to the pumping stations run by the KWSB unless it pays up Rs15.3 billion.
KARACHI:
The Karachi Electric Supply Company has threatened to cut off the power to the pumping stations run by the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board unless it pays up Rs15.3 billion. The water board enjoys an uninterrupted supply at all of its installments, said Imran Aslam, who is the director of distribution strategy and the public sector consumer at KESC, in a letter dated November 22. “It has now become impossible for us to supply uninterrupted power to KWSB at the prevailing gas levels.” It asked the water board to reduce its electricity consumption to 50% voluntarily, or face load shedding. On November 21, KESC disconnected Pakistan Steel Mills for the same reason.
