KARACHI:

The Station House Officer (SHO) of the North Nazimabad police station has been asked to explain in court why he did not register an FIR for a missing man and instead just entered the matter in the daily blotter or roznamcha.

On Wednesday, he was served a show-cause notice by a division bench of the High Court of Sindh.

The petitioner, Shama Parveen, went to court saying that her son Moin-ur Rahman, an employee of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, left for duty on November 3 but never returned. She went to the police station as her son’s place of work falls within its precincts. She wanted to file a case or FIR but they refused. Parveen has asked the court to order the police and other authorities to produce him in court if he is wanted in any case.

In a similar case, the same bench heard a petition filed by another mother. She is challenging her sons Javed Anwar’s alleged illegal detention since November 9.
