Muharram precaution: Rangers given 3-month extension

The Sindh government has extended the policing powers given to the Rangers, who can conduct raids, interrogate people and arrest them, so that there is extra security in Muharram, said the home department on Tuesday. The tenure of the Rangers’ policing powers ended on November 23 but Home Minister Manzoor Wassan extended it for an additional three months. The Sindh Rangers were first given these powers in January 2010, which the provincial government has continued to extend.
