Gas Gamut: Protesting ban on new connections
Protesters had submitted fees of demand notices and were waiting for their turn for the connections.
BAHAWALPUR:
Rahim Yar Khan residents have protested against the federal government ban on new connections by Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines (SNGPL) department. Protesters said that they had submitted fees of demand notices and were waiting for their turn for the connections when the decision was announced. SNGPL distribution in-charge Mohammad Anwar told reporters that he received orders from the Bahawalpur Regional Office that a ban had been imposed on installing new connections. “It took us months to finally have our requests for a new gas connection approved. Now that it has been approved the government has put a stop to it. How will we get through the coming winter season?” said a protester. Many residents said that after they issued their demand notices months ago they were eagerly waiting on receiving connections in time for the winter.
