World diabetes day: Type 2 diabetes on the rise

By 2030 there will by nearly 14 million diabetics in Pakistan, said a doctor at the event to celebrate World Diabetes Day at The Kidney Centre on Monday. “Type 2 diabetes is increasing in the younger population.” According to Dr Aasima Yawar, a consultant endocrinologist, it was important to exercise and eat healthy. She said that this could prevent diabetes. Dr Salman Imtiaz, a consultant nephrologist, said diabetes could cause hypertension and renal failure.
