KARACHI:

Around half dozen people were injured in an explosion which took place inside Kumhar Cinema in Lea market on Sunday night.

A heavy contingent of law enforcers and volunteers from different welfare organisations got there in time to take the injured to Civil Hospital.

Witnesses claim that they had no idea that the blast had taken place as it occurred a few minutes after the interval at around 10:15 pm. According to the medico-legal officer at the hospital, at least five people including Ghulam Hussain, Rizwan and Abu Bakr were brought for treatment and were out of danger.

The District South DIG Shaukat Ali Shah said that the low intensity explosion took place after the interval of a movie. DIG Shah added that according to initial investigation the bomb had been hidden inside the cinema and was a timed device.

He said that the bomb could have been planted as part of a business dispute but nothing could be ascertained as the police was still investigating. The bomb disposal squad was there to find out what sort of bomb was used.
