Football: UEFA fine Bulgaria over racist chants

Uefa also punished the Bulgarians for setting-off and throwing fireworks.

NYON:
Uefa said it had fined the Bulgarian Football Federation € 40,000 after racist chanting by some home fans during the September 23 Euro 2012 qualifier against England. Uefa’s Control and Disciplinary Body handed down the fine after it found the Bulgarians had to answer charges of ‘discriminatory behaviour’ including racist chanting against black English players who helped their side to a 3-0 win. Uefa also punished the Bulgarians for setting-off and throwing fireworks. The Bulgarians may appeal the verdict.
