64 booked for protesting and torturing shopkeeper.

Raza Abad Police has booked 64 people for staging a procession, blocking the main roads for traffic and setting fire to several vehicles on November 5.


According to police officials, a large mob was seen gathered outside near Chowk Razi on November 5 and police officials said that Muhammad Naveed lodged a complaint alleging that Muhammad Yaseen and over 60 others had staged a protest against the killing of one Adeel. The demonstrators also blocked road and forced shopkeepers to close their shops. Naveed said he refused to close his shop and  the protestors, under the supervision of ASI Sheikh Shafiq, tortured him and stole Rs42,000 from his cash register. “They put my shop on fire and then began setting fire to cars parked outside,” he said.


Police registered a case against 64 protestors under Sections 431, 427, 379, 291, 149 and 148 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Friday. “We are looking to arrest the people responsible for setting Yaseen’s shop on fire. A medical report has confirmed that he was severely beaten and we are also looking into the records of the accused police officials he has identified,” said Raza Abad police inspector Waleed Cheema.
