Punjab Rescue 1122 director general Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Rescue 1122 services and activities were being extended to other provinces in the country. Naseer said that Rescue 1122 was also considering expanding its operations to include Saarc countries.
“We aim to achieve this formidable task and provide maximum relief to people elsewhere and these voluntarily services will help us fulfill this target,” he said.
Addressing the participants of a special ceremony in Sialkot, Naseer said that Rescue 1122 presently conducted its operations in 35 cities of Punjab and that the organization was giving encouraging results.
“On the onset we had to face several difficulties and the idea of the formation of a voluntary service was ridiculed but we did not lose heart and continued to explore these new avenues,” he said, adding that “this is the time when Pakistan needs volunteers in emergency services more than ever, we hope that more people will step up to the task.”
