Dec 31 deadline approaching: SBP asks people to exchange Rs5 note
Rs5 banknote will cease to be legal tender with effect from January 1, 2012.
KARACHI:
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has once again advised people to exchange Rs5 banknote from field offices of the SBP Banking Services Corporation and branches of all commercial banks operating throughout the country up to December 31, 2011. It may be pointed out that the federal government has already notified that Rs5 banknote will cease to be legal tender with effect from January 1, 2012.
