ISLAMABAD:

A rich cultural show to highlight the ideology of Allama Muhammed Iqbal was held at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Wednesday. The performance marked the 134th birth anniversary of the national poet and philosopher who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent.

Dressed in vibrant colours, children of different ages presented skits and tableaus based on stories portraying Iqbal’s messages for the correction of the society. The children enthralled the audience with national songs and verses from Iqbal’s poetry.

PNCA DG Tauqeer Nasir said the council celebrates all national days by hosting cultural and art programmes involving young talent to create awareness among them.

He said that by presenting tableaus and songs on the lives of national heroes, children understand the ideologies of such personalities.

Born on November 9, 1877 in Sialkot, Allama Muhammed Iqbal was great leader of Muslims of the sub-continent and an important personality for the Pakistan Movement. His poetry has been translated in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English and several other languages.
