MIRPUR: A policeman of the Indian Special Task Force was killed in an alleged fierce gun battle between the security forces and two Kashmiri freedom fighters in Kishtwar district of Indian Kashmir, said a report on Tuesday.

The occupation forces of Indian army and the police personnel launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Bakhari-Pinjar forest belt of Kishtwar district in an abortive attempt to track down the two Kashmiri freedom fighters on Tuesday, the report said.

During the ‘search operation’, the Kashmiri freedom fighters allegedly fired on the Indian security personnel who fired back leading to an exchange of fire, the report added, identifying the deceased policeman as Bilal.
