District attorneys asked to play proactive role in speedy dispensation of justice.
As qualified and licensed lawyers, the attorneys can play an important role in safeguarding human rights. This was stated by Supreme Court’s Human Rights cell Director-General Saifur Rehman Khan. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of an orientation course for district attorneys, said a press release issued by the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) on Monday. He exhorted the attorneys to play a proactive role in the administration of justice.
As many as 19 district attorneys and deputy district-attorneys (DDAs) including a female DDA from Punjab’s law department are attending the week-long orientation at the FJA.
He said the subordinate courts and attorneys themselves have to earn the public confidence by improving the quality of their work.
“Continuous judicial and legal education is essential for the judicial officers in the same manner, it is essential for the district attorneys and other court personnel,” he added.
