Seats reduced by 6,000 at colleges

KARACHI:
The central admissions committee has reduced the number of seats at colleges teaching science by 4,000, humanities by 1,000 and commerce by 1,000 in efforts to regulate the results of students at higher education institutions.
An increase in the number of seats last year had lowered the standards of admission at some colleges, while many seats had remained vacant at the newer colleges, a member of the committee said on Tuesday.
The colleges are: Shipowners Government College, Jinnah Government College, Sir Syed Girls College, Khatoon Pakistan Government Degree College, SRE Majeed Government Degree College, Gulshan Government Degree Girls College, Karachi Government College, Sharae Liaquat Government Degree College for Women, Government Degree Commerce and Arts College, SM Arts and Commerce College and Delhi Government Degree College.
