SUKKUR: The building of a government dispensary on Barrage Road is in dire need of repairs. It is used as the focal point for polio campaigns and treats around 100 patients every day. The ceiling is falling apart and the walls of the building are cracked. On the other hand, the intensive care unit of the Civil hospital was closed again. The district government inaugurated it in 2004, but it never functioned properly because of a lack of staff and equipment. Eventually the equipment was stolen. According to the doctors, it was closed because there were no patients.
