One policeman killed, another injured in Charsadda bomb attack: Officials
DSP says remote-controlled bomb was planted in the mud.
PESHAWAR:
A police official was killed and another was injured when a remote-controlled bomb went off near a police checkpost in the Shabqadar area of Charsadda district en route to Mohmand Tribal region, confirmed a senior police official.
The incident took place in the Dhandao Poll area near Peer Qalla checkpost on Saturday.
“The bomb was a remote-controlled device planted in the mud,” said DSP Zahir Shah Khan while speaking to The Express Tribune.
“This police post is manned by our men during the day-time to keep a check on the traffic close to the tribal belt,” he added.
The killed policeman was identified as head constable Muhammad Ayaz while the injured was identified as Fazal Rahein, said the official.
The areas close to the tribal region have often been the target of violence. More than 90 people were killed in twin suicide attacks on the Frontier Constabulary, previously in Shabqadar, most of whom were fresh recruits on their way home.
