Warming up for TEDxLahore
The event that will take place on July 31 at Ali Auditorium is a platform for people to come together and share their ideas.
Organisers of TEDxLahore, Asim Fayyaz, Khurram Siddiqi and Tajdar Chaudary shared details about the upcoming event on The Morning Show on Express 24/7 on Tuesday.
The event that will take place on July 31 at Ali Auditorium is a platform for people to come together and share their ideas with other participants as well as an expected large audience.
Among several details that the guests shared on the show, Fayyaz explained that to organize a TED event, you have to acquire a license, which is free of cost, after which you can host a “TED-like” or TEDx event which emulates the experience of a TED event held anywhere in the world.
TED is a place where “ideas are free of context,” said Fayyaz. “This means that the idea is not dependant on where it is coming from and can be applied anywhere.”
Talking about the speakers, Siddiqi said that the Lahore event will feature 14 to 15 individuals who are skilled in their fields and have ideas worth sharing. He mentioned architect and urban planner Arif Hassan and Doctor Amir Khan as two of the speakers.
“Good speakers demand a good audience, and so it is important that TEDx has an audience that is receptive,” Siddiqi explained.
“People who wish to be physically present at the event need to apply through a process where they can prove that they are genuinely interested in attending. Till now 500 people have applied while the event can only accommodate 280,” said Chaudry. “However, those who cannot attend the event can access it online.”
A similar event titled, 'What Pakistan Needs Now' was the focus of TEDx held in June at the Southend Club in Karachi.
