Energy demand: ‘Operate non-functional gas fields’
Punjab CNG Association says that shortfall can be plugged if Kunar Pushagi gas field is made operational.
MULTAN:
Punjab CNG Association President Fayyaz Gilani said on Friday that gas shortage and load shedding could be overcome in a few months if non-functional gas fields were made operational.
Talking to newsmen, he said the gas shortfall in the country was estimated at 400 millions cubic feet per day (mmcfd).
However, he added that if the Kunar Pushagi gas field, which can supply 300 mmcfd of gas daily, is made operational, it would reduce the shortfall to only 100 mmcfd.
Moreover, he said that another recently discovered gas field, Gargary, near Kohat should also be made operational as soon as possible after resolving issues.
