Multan-Faisalabad Motorway: Court gives Centre a week to file reply

Petition submitted says that allocation of Rs47 billion for the project will be a misuse of the public exchequer.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Friday gave more time to the federal government to file a reply in a petition challenging construction of Multan-Faisalabad motorway. A deputy attorney general had requested the court to give the government one week. The hearing was adjourned till November 22. Advocate Feroze Shah Gillani filed the petition and submitted that allocation of Rs47 billion for the project will be a misuse of the public exchequer. He said that the government should use this amount to save Pakistan Railways and to overcome the gas crisis in the country. The petitioner requested the court to restrain the government from constructing the motorway and direct that the money be for improvement of railways and overcoming the gas crisis.
