Disqualify Zardari Petition referred to chief justice
Petition seeking disqualification of President Asif Zardari to the chief justice for constitution of a larger bench.
LAHORE:
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh of the Lahore High Court on Thursday referred a petition seeking the disqualification of President Asif Zardari to the chief justice for constitution of a larger bench.
Advocate Rana Ilmuddin Ghazi filed the petition through his counsel AK Dogar. The petitioner says that Zardari was allowed to stand in the presidential election only because the cases against him went away under the NRO.
Since the Supreme Court later struck down the NRO and the cases were reopened, he should have been disqualified, says the petitioner.
