Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has called a crucial party meeting on November 13 to review its anti-government and anti-Nawaz Sharif campaign and to discuss forging alliances with like-minded groups and parties for the next general election.
The party will announce its new strategy during a meeting of the central executive committee (CEC), said PTI central information secretary Umar Cheema.
“It’s time for PTI to make new alliances with pure political parties, to pile up pressure against its opponents,” Cheema said while talking to The Express Tribune.
His party, he said, will also ask the Election Commission to register 40 million young people who have recently received their computerised national identity cards but whose names have not been registered in the draft electoral list so far.
PTI chief Imran Khan, who has been claiming that scores of key political figures are all set to join him in the coming weeks, said his party plans to field a thousand candidates in the upcoming elections. “All our candidates will disclose their real assets before representing the party,” Imran said in a recent statement.
The party’s CEC will also nominate members to visit southern Punjab for meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Q (like-minded) leaders who have expressed a desire to work with PTI, after its popular Lahore rally. The team will most probably be headed by former governor Punjab Mian Azhar, who is purportedly trying to win over some PML-N legislators, unhappy with their leadership in Punjab.
The committee will also nominate a team to work under PTI Sindh president Naeemul Haq to organise rallies in the province next month. The party’s 10-point “Sindh Sukkar” (Prosperous Sindh) agenda will also be a part of the CEC meeting.
The party is going to test the waters in the province by taking out a series of rallies, Haq told The Express Tribune.
The CEC will also nominate members of parliamentary board which will scrutinise names of politicians who have recently expressed intentions to join the PTI, the party’s general secretary Dr Arif Alvi said. “There is no place in our party for those who have been involved in corruption.”
The committee will adopt a mechanism for awarding tickets to the candidates in the upcoming elections, said Cheema, adding that Allama Iqbal’s grandson Waleed Iqbal joined PTI two days ago.
Imran, who will chair the CEC meeting, will also decide on a possible political venture with Jahangir Tareen’s Clean Party
Tareen, claiming support of over a dozen former ministers, indicated last Sunday that he is ready to form a political venture with the PTI to pile up pressure against the incumbent government.
The Clean Party will also hold a meeting to chalk out its strategy on November 14, said former federal minister Ishaq Khan Khakwani.
“Various dissident politicians across party lines, especially from the PML-Q, have been invited to attend the meeting,” Khakwani told The Express Tribune.
The formal announcement of party office bearers, members of its CEC and prospective political ventures with other parties are expected to be decided at this meeting, he added.

@Ali: i want to thumb your comment
i think imran do try is best but aware to lanelord because they not depend on party they depend hie ownself.so they can not do a lot of work himself.pti also try in sind &blochaistan.
@Freemason
And why won't Imran need that DNA test , may I ask ? Is he some kind of demi-God like Persius. Let him prove his innocence .
If writing something offending on the walls of Karachi is deregatory , aren't you PTIers doing the same on this public forum all the time ?...............talk about double standard !
@Salman Orangiwala: My dear Imran does not need any DNA. Wall chalkers are very low levelled people and we know who they are so stop this stupid thing. By writting on the walls They cannot go more lower than this.
@Salman Orangiwala: You are also on the net - That does not mean that you are not a human. Every single person on the internet who support Imran's Party is also a human being. They will also poll the vote. They are not robots. So what is wrong with it?
@Nisar Hussain: If Imran's Party lack of Democracy then which party in Pakistan have democracy??????
Only Imran's Party PTI is the best. It is the only hope for BETTER Pakistan.
@King Khan lolzzzzz
Really ? Visit Karachi and read the writing on the wall , literally speaking . And talking about dishonest , didnt Imran blatanatly refused to have that DNA test ? .
as a karachiite it is clear to me that PTI can win seats in central karachi - as soon as MQM realises this (perhaps after the 25 december pti rally at quaid's mazaar - which will be bigger than what we saw in lahore) there will be a bloodbath of urdu speaking youth :(
@a1mohajir: Wait brother... he is now in electoral politics... the pitch he will play doesnt accept unknowns... Punjab needs known people... once he has gone through the grind he will discuss with all if being a PM is his dream.
@King Khan: If you are not a blind follower then do you agree that democratically the challenge is to get consensus and this means he cannot be as rigid as he is today.... How would you guide him to ensure he takes all... good and the bad along....
@Unpatriotic:
and what is wrong with that? president musharraf governed the country much better than the clowns today. why is it that people are hung up on what mistakes he mader rather than focus on what good he did? you guys dont think if imran wins he will make mistakes? is he made from some different material that he cannot make mistakes? should i start counting the mistakes he's made so far in his political life. lets be honest. president musharraf and imran teaming up will be very good for this country. pakistanis need to get out of this fantasy that political leaders can be 'clean' for the entire time they are in power. you do have to make compromises because politics is inherently dirty, whether its pakistan or the US you are talking about.
We trust Imran Khan not because we are blind followers, we trust him because even his enemies never called him coward, liar or dishonest.
Get new blood and dont compromise PIT! Go for it!
It would be interesting to see how many of his leaders can actually talk in front of him.
@india: i m surprised...what this so called e-bomb has to do with the news item regarding PTI and Imran?
@india: wonder it has to do with the news item regarding Imran and PTI.However i would also like to mention one thing...if India wants to become a super power...its people must behave with dignity.Learn something from China..their axhievements come into bolice after they are achieved.They dont rant about tgeir future plabs.
what about karachi and mohajir support?
Bigwigs? There is no bigwig in one man show.
@kamran:
Soon people of pakistan will see Imran khan sitting with Musharaf.
90% of Musharaf's cabinet will join hands with IK to bring change :)
PTI and IK becoming politically maturer with every passing day. Good to see that. Full support for you Mr. Imran Khan and your party!
Imran Sahab,please add only clean and clear minded people in your party.
Imran claims Tsunami is coming in next elections. If he is so sure, he does not need to form alliances with other political forces. Alliances always mean compromises.
@Nisar Hussain: Yeah right, the only democratic parties are PPP and PML-N.
imran khan planning to replace his party as opposition but not planning to replace government.
@Salman Orangiwala:
Well said... liked ‘Net Brigade’
Most of the criticism is coming from Urban Population against PTI alliances what we fail to realize is typical PK Political dynamics we should realize most of the population is Rural Population and most of them have this bradiri system. So either we like it or not such people will have to be part of PTI. Atmost could be they are relatively clean.
Its good that the revolutionary PML Q is going to join PTI
Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen - amazing combination for economic prosperity in Pakistan. Zindabad!
MAD ji, Indian establishment stopped Sonia to become prime minister out of her bogus nationalism. it was infact, a bad taste regarding democracy. in power politics, every one wants to capture power in its own hands yet if imran decides in this way, remains party head and supports other to become PM from his own party it will be good
PTI has a strong following in the metro area and NWFP...they will sweep NWFP, may win around 30 or so seats in punjab assembly but at the national level they still need to do a lot more...the way things r at the moment they should win around 20 seats in the national assembly...
In the not too distant future, Indian armed forces would be equipped with "e-bomb", courtesy Terminal Ballistic and Research Laboratory (TBRL), one of the top defence research and development laboratories in the country.
Stated to be most lethal weapon after nuclear bombs, the TBRL is expected to finish the R&D work on the project within the 12th plan period
Thats good tactics for PTI. I believe Shah Mehmood Q. and Sheikh Rashid can lend in the hand for the struggle of 'Change'. But its evident enough that Imran would need support in different constituencies from cleaner poliicians if he has to bring some change in these upcoming elections. I say bring in Dr. Javed Iqbal. Bring in people who can think through the politics and economy as well as social well being of the people.
Alliances are necessary but its the masses that matter.
IK could consider a situation where he nominates a respected and well qualified politician as PM while staying party chief. That would be true democracy Sonia Gandhi style. Besides if he becomes PM I hope he retains the ministry of sports.
All the Seasonal Mushrooms are sprouting their shoots to gather under the umbrella of Imran . So pathetic .But ......does Imran have a choice ? He cannot win an election on the mere support of his 'Net Brigade' . :)
Imran Khan is a true, sincere, honest & visionary leader of pakistan. In a country like pakistan where majority of the institutions & people are corrupt. PTI should join hands with clean & corruption free politicians to put more pressure on the Govt.
Alliances = Compromises
Lets see what parties join and which do not. I think an alliance of PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami is feasible.
Wazeer-e-Azam Imran Khan!!!
Imran Khan is the only hope for Pakistan!!
PTI is heading towards right direction. Every think shall be with consultation of CEC. Cautious approach is good as far as new entrants are concern.
It is quite difficult to have 1000 new candidates because you need such candidates specially in rural area who are influential and social in there area.
Nice..
Thanks Almighty Allah our future is in the hand of an honest person. Insha Allah within five years we will be a proud nation, courtesy to Mr. Imran Khan.
there is lack of democracy in Imran's party" how he can change the pakistan, firstly he make his party democatic
Pile it on baby, lol there's even rumblings that shah mahmood qureshi may join PTI.
