Football: Alcaraz banned for spitting
Wigan issued a statement following his acceptance of the charge saying that he will also be punished by them.
LONDON:
Wigan will be without Antolin Alcaraz for three matches after he accepted a Football Association (FA) charge that he spat at Wolves defender Richard Stearman during Sunday’s 3-1 defeat.
The 29-year-old Paraguayan international centreback, signed from Belgian side Club Brugge last year after an eye-catching World Cup campaign, has only recently returned to action after being out with a torn leg muscle. Wigan issued a statement following his acceptance of the charge saying that he will also be punished by them. “The matter will be treated with utmost seriousness and be dealt with internally, according to the club’s code of conduct,” read a statement from the Premier League tail-enders.
