Pornistan
ISLAMABAD:
This is with reference to Rahman Waqas’s letter of July 19 on Ahmad Rafay Alam’s article “Tere bin Pornistan” (July 17).
I am sure that the writer did not mean Pakistan when he used the word ‘Pornistan’. Mr Alam may have given a slant to Fox’s broadcast gloating over the fact that Pakistanis did the most surfing on porn websites. That statement has now been disowned by Google itself.
I know Pakistan figures badly in the eyes of the rest of the world but I think we make things worse for ourselves by doing whatever we can – especially in the English media – to criticise ourselves no end. For heaven’s sake, fellow great liberals, give Pakistan a reprieve.
