Hockey: Pakistan juniors fall to South Korea

South Korea were leading 2-0 at half-time before Karim Khan scored for Pakistan.

KARACHI:

Pakistan lost their second successive match in as many days at the six-nation Sultan of Johor Cup Junior Hockey Tournament after they went down 2-1 against South Korea.

Pakistan’s young guns, who suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to New Zealand in their first match, failed to lift their performance against the Koreans. South Korea were leading 2-0 at half-time before Karim Khan scored for Pakistan. The team’s manager-cum-coach Rana Mujahid felt that mistakes proved costly for his team.

“We missed a lot of chances,” said Mujahid. “Our players are relatively inexperienced while the rest of the teams have regular junior players.”
