ISLAMABAD:

Newly appointed president of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) southern Punjab Makhdoom Shahabuddin vowed to strengthen PPP in the region.

Replying to a question, Shahabuddin said that holding rallies to derail democracy will not be successful and advised opposition parties to wait till the next elections, as the PPP “will sweep the polls” in the coming elections.

Secretary General of PPP Senator Jehangir Badr said that organising rallies is the beauty of democracy and would not be harmful for the PPP.

Replying to a question regarding the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership’s comments against President Asif Ali Zardari, Badr said that it was against political tolerance.
