Commonwealth Games: Muralitharan to advocate SL’s bid
Sri Lanka wishes to host the Games in Hambantota while Australia is bidding for its Gold Coast to serve as the venue.

Sri Lanka’s retired spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan has been engaged to carry out campaigning to secure the bid for the Commonwealth Games of 2018 to be held in the country. Sri Lanka wishes to host the Games in Hambantota while Australia is bidding for its Gold Coast to serve as the venue. The verdict will be revealed on November 11 when the Commonwealth Games Federation meets in St Kitts and Nevis. “I still remember the glory of winning the World Cup in 1996 and hope that we will have the same glory by becoming hosts for the Commonwealth Games,” said Muralitharan.
