The Punjab government will announce a schedule for local bodies' elections by the August 23.



The provincial government informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) about the date of announcement during a hearing today.


The court was hearing petitions challenging appointment of local administrators in place of Nazims, and the allegedly 'deliberate' delay of local bodies' polls by the Punjab government.


Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed had asked the Additional Advocate General, in the last hearing, to come up with a proposed schedule for Punjab's local bodies’ elections.
