First ever: Liver transplant centre to open by Dec
The country’s first liver transplant centre at PIMS is due to be functional from December.
ISLAMABAD:
The country’s first liver transplant centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is due to be functional from December, APP learnt from official sources of the Capital Administration Development Division (CADD). According to sources, hospital administration has purchased equipment for liver transplant and hired surgeons from abroad. Furthermore, the transplant centre is being established with a grant of Rs233 million, allocated by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for facilitating patients who had to travel abroad for treatment. The source added that patients would have to pay only Rs2.5 million for liver transplant surgery in Pakistan.
