Pak-india: ‘Trade route should be reopened’
Traders demanded opening of historical Sialkot-Suchetgarh route for business with Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD:
Traders and industrialists in Jammu region have demanded the opening of historical Sialkot-Suchetgarh route for business with Pakistan to boost the economy of the region. President of Bari Brahamana Industrialists Association, Anil Suri said that many products from Jammu were exported to Pakistan but via Dubai. The opening of Sialkot-Suchetgarh route, traders of Pakistan and India would greatly benefit, he added. Suri said that there was already no custom duty on the cross-LoC trade, but the list of such items was small. “If the Sialkot-Suchetgarh route is reopened, the traders from Jammu can do a direct business with their counterparts in Pakistan,” he said.
