ISLAMABAD:

No individual or organisation will be allowed to collect the hides of sacrificial animals without obtaining prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, nor will a chit system be applicable. This was decided in a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Rehman Malik to review the law and order situation.

It was decided that a dedicated location for the collection of animal hides will be established in the city, and excessive use of loudspeakers for collection of hides will be banned.

The interior minister directed the Islamabad police to ensure tight security arrangements at sensitive installations and public places, especially mosques, for Eid-ul-Azha.

Malik said walk-through gates and scanners should be installed at all places of worship. Additional staff should be deployed where necessary on all the entry and exit points in Islamabad, said the minister.

Islamabad Police said they have established `Police Help Service Centres’ at all main markets and other areas of the city to provide immediate assistance to the citizens in case of any emergency on Eid days.

The centres, established in Super Market in F-6, Jinnah Super Market in F-7, Karachi Company in G-9, and F-10 Markaz, are manned by police officers to assist people in case of any problem.

“Instead of going to a police station, people will be able to lodge their complaints in these centres, which will be active from 5:30 pm to 12:30 am,” said a police spokesperson.
