Prosecutors’ appointments: ‘Cases referred to PPSC for scrutiny’
Prosecution Department told the LHC that cases of 87 prosecutors have been referred to the PPSC for scrutiny.
LAHORE:
The Prosecution Department told the Lahore High Court on Friday that cases of 87 prosecutors have been referred to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) for scrutiny. The commission will determine if the prosecutors are eligible for confirmation according to the criteria set by the Supreme Court. A law officer presented the letter, written sent by the Prosecution secretary to the PPSC, before Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan. After seeing the letter, the court disposed of a contempt of court petition filed by Rahat Majeed and other prosecutors against non implementation of the single bench order wherein the government was ordered to refer cases of 87 prosecutors (petitioners) to PPSC for their appointment.
