Nab appointment: ‘Nisar did not respond to president’s letter’

LAHORE:

The federal government told the Lahore High Court that President Asif Ali Zardari had sought consultation, through a letter, from opposition leader on the appointment of Admiral (retired) Fasih Bokhari as the National Accountability Bureau chairman but he did not respond.

Deputy attorney general (DAG), Nasim Kashmiri, made the remarks in the court of Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry during the hearing of a petition that has challenged Bokhari’s appointment.

The chief justice asked the law officer to file a written statement in this regard and adjourned the case till November 17.

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffree filed the petition, according to which the obligatory procedure was not followed while making the appointment.
