ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has warmly welcomed Palestine’s entry into Unesco, terming it a victory of democracy.
Dr Attiya Inayatullah, speaking on behalf of Pakistan at the 36th General Conference of Unesco in Paris during which Palestine was given membership status with an overwhelming majority, said: “Today, an inexcusable wrong has been righted.” She lauded Unesco for the exercise of its mandate.

Today's news: Canada has also decided to withhold its voluntary share to UNESCO. Time for Arab deep pockets to put their money where their loud mouth is!
Vienna, nov 2,2011 I agree with Dr.Attiya Inayatullah. I just have written if only Prince Khaled had guts he should have come forward to make good what UNESCO was going to suffer as a result instead of upping by 900000 dollars the 100000 offered reward by a Sheikh to terrorist abductors of a single Israeli citizen. He could guarantee Israel crude delivery in exchange for state hood for Palestine in secured territories of West Bank with Jerusalem as Capital and Gaza Strip. I think it was absolutely right, that Palestine be accepted as member of the UNESCO. The U.S. will be ill-advised to punish the organisation by withholding its financial contribution. Two laws enacted in the early 1990's that prohibit the U.S. funding any U.N. entity that grants Palestine membership. It wouldn't surprise me at all that John R. Bolton was behind them. A lawyer by profession, he was the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organisation Affairs under Bush I. Under Bush II he was ambassador to the U.N. for a year and known for his anti-U.N. sentiments.
