General Body Meeting: Lawyers demand elevation of SHC CJ
Senior most judges were elevated but this was ignored in Sindh.

The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) has unanimously passed a resolution demanding the elevation of the chief justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Mushir Alam, instead of senior most judge Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
Citing the principle of seniority, the SHCBA pointed out that in the cases of the Peshawar and Lahore high courts, senior most judges were elevated but this was ignored in Sindh.
The majority of recommendations made by a judicial commission were overturned or modified by a parliamentary committee, resulting in delays to appointing judges.
“Vacancies in the Sindh High Court should be immediately filled by appointing competent judges from among lawyers and judges who have taken oath under the Constitution of Pakistan [and refused to take oath under the Provisional Consititution Order] should be considered for appointment,” said the resolution.
