Justice Sought: Teachers go to court over delayed posting

The court ordered the secretary of education to defend the department on November 11.

KARACHI:

Encouraged by a favourable judgment in two similar cases, 65 teachers from various parts of Sindh have gone to the Sindh High Court over jobs promised by the Sindh education department.

About 250,000 candidates were shortlisted for teaching positions in the department out of the 350,000 people who applied in 2008.

Abdul Aziz Khoso and 64 other people were among those offered jobs after they had completed all the formalities, but they were not given any postings.

After waiting for more than two years, they have filed a petition through Shoua-un-Nabi advocate and have asked the court to direct the education department to post them to their positions.

After hearing the counsel for the petitioners on Monday, the court ordered the secretary of education to defend the department on November 11.
