Police encounter: Two suspected robbers shot dead on GT Road
Four armed robbers that looted 15 cellphones and Rs25,000 at gunpoint from a mobile shop on GT Road, were shot dead.

In a rare police encounter, officials of the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) shot dead two suspected robbers on the Grand Trunk Road near Muridke.
Four armed robbers that reportedly looted 15 cellphones and Rs25,000 at gunpoint from a mobile shop on GT Road, said a spokesperson of the NHMP on Sunday. All police squads were alerted and a Toyota Corolla car matching the description of the vehicle used in an robbery was signalled to stop near Muridke (North III zone). However the robbers evaded the patrol and sped away.
The police squad started to chase the vehicle and forced it to stop a few miles off. Finding no way out, the suspected robbers opened indiscriminate fire on the police. The police returned fire and fatally injured two suspects, while the remaining two accomplices managed to escape in the darkness of the night, said the spokesperson.
The deceased robbers were identified as Waqar and Arsalan, residents of Sargodha. The police also recovered a .222 Rifle, a 30-bore pistol, five cellphones and Rs6,000 cash from the vehicle.
Cases were registered against the suspected robbers in Muridke police station and the police investigating are underway.
