Football: Gerrard may not be fit for friendlies

Dalglish has cast doubt on Steven Gerrard’s availability ahead of England’s forthcoming international friendlies.

WEST BROMWICH:
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has cast doubt on Steven Gerrard’s availability ahead of  England’s forthcoming international friendlies. The midfielder, who only returned to action earlier this month after being sidelined since March with a groin injury, was forced to miss Saturday’s 2-0 victory at West Brom after picking up an ankle infection. Dalglish failed to confirm whether Gerrard would

recover in time for England’s friendly games with Spain and Sweden on November 12 and 15 at the Wembley Stadium. “I haven’t got a clue,” said Dalglish. “Steven has got an infection in his ankle.
He was in our minds for the game, but it just flared up.”
