Rescued: 36 peasants freed from private jail

The rescued peasants alleged that they were denied food and coerced into strenuous labour.

KUNRI: The Kunri police rescued 36 bonded peasants, including 17 children, during a raid in Chaudry Javed Arain village on Thursday. After it received a petition from a peasant, the sessions court of Umarkot ordered the police to rescue the peasants being detained in the private jail of the landlord, Javed Arain. The rescued peasants alleged that they were denied food and coerced into strenuous labour.
