Crackdown: City police to clean the city

The city police are launching a “grand” crackdown against gamblers, drug pushers and bootleggers

RAWALPINDI:
The city police are launching a “grand” crackdown against gamblers, drug pushers and bootleggers, official sources told The Express Tribune on Thursday. City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokar issued a letter to the head of Crime Investigation Cell in Rawalpindi, asking him to constitute special teams under the supervision of reserve police officers that have good reputation. The teams will be authorised to launch an operation in any part of the city without consulting the local police. They can also ask the local police for help if needed. The teams will directly report to the CPO. CPO Khokhar also directed Rawalpindi police to restrict the entry of people with bad reputations from entering police stations.
