SHIKARPUR: In order to better control violence in the Shikarpur area, three new police stations will be set up at Jahanwah, Budho Isani and Dilawar Marfani, said Home Minister Zulfiqar Ali Mirza at a meeting at the DPO Shikarpur’s office on Friday.

“The Sindh government is determined to uproot tribal disputes in which innocent people have lost their lives,” he said.

This month over 20 people were killed in a clash between the Qambrani and Magsi tribes at Golodaro.

Later, while talking to the media, Mirza said that the clash was not tribal in nature but a dispute over the possession of forest land in which the landlords and their farmers were involved. The main role was played by one landlord from Dewal Qambrani.

The minister said that the people who were illegally occupying the land would be evicted and poor farmers would be given portions.

The DPOs of Shikarpur, Kashmore and Larkana districts will conduct operations in Shikarpur and its adjoining areas under the supervision of DIG Operations Larkana Sanaullah Abbasi.

The minister said that transfers and postings of police officers would not be made without his permission in Shikarpur district. He told the police no pressure would be tolerated. Among others, the meeting was attended by Agha Taimoor Khan, Agha Arasan Khan Pathan, RPO Sukkur Ramzan Channa, DIG Sanaullah Abbasi, DCO Shikarpur Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, DPO Shikarpur Faizullah Korejo and the DPO of Larkana.
