Football: United in League Cup quarters
'We’re satisfied,' said manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
LONDON:
Manchester United shrugged off their mauling against Manchester City in the Premier League to book their place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Aldershot.
Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen put the visitors 2-0 up before Antonio Valencia killed the game off just after half-time. “We’re satisfied,” said manager Sir Alex Ferguson. “In Cup ties the important thing is winning the game and we’re in the next round now.”
In other fourth-round action, Arsenal battled past Bolton 2-1, Crystal Palace stunned Championship leaders Southampton 2-0 and Cardiff advanced to the last-eight with a 1-0 win over Burnley.
