The Higher Education Commission on Friday rejected the verification of 10 degrees from the Allama Iqbal Open Univerity (AIOU).

HEC had sent degrees of 10 parliamentarians to the AIOU but later expressed doubts over the mechanism adopted by the university for verification process.

HEC Advisor Mehmood Raza had earlier said it would present its final report to the National Assembly’s Standing Committeee on Education on today, July 16, 2010.

Meanwhile Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said fake degrees is not the issue of a political party but that of the Election Commission.

While speaking to the media in Islamabad, Kaira said the Election Commission will deal with the issue according to procedure and all parties are bound to follow it.
