PMS officers may go on strike from Monday
LAHORE:
The Provincial Management Service (PMS) Officers’ association will go on a strike from Monday.
Rai Manzoor Nasir, the association president said that the step had been taken “owing to the uninterested attitude of Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa.”
He added that the Punjab government as well as the DMG officers will be responsible for the loss – to the public and the government kitty. Nasir said once they went on strike, there won’t be any room for negotiation. He said that the association had made arrangements for a six-month strike.
Nasir said that officers will gather at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on July 19. Other Provincial Civil Services (PCS) associations will express solidarity by going on strike in their respective provinces, he added.
On Wednesday, the chief minister had constituted a committee headed by Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa to resolve the issues raised by the PMS association. The committee was convened on Thursday but the meeting was not attended by Rana Sanaullah, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and Punjab advocate general.
During the meeting, Nasir said, he objected to the participation of the additional chief secretary and the S&GAD secretary as members. He maintained, “They belong to the DMG, which is a party in the issue under discussion.”
He said Khosa assured him that DMG officers were there to give their take on the outstanding issues. However, he left the meeting after dealing with only one demand, regarding promotions, out of a total of 12 and directed that another meeting be scheduled.
