Convocation: Second batch of CIMA enters into the corporate world

KARACHI:

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (Cima), held its second convocation in Pakistan at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi on Wednesday.

Youth Affairs Minister Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari and CIMA Regional Director Bradley Emerson attended the ceremony, themed ‘Personal power, Professional progress’. It signifies the choice one makes to pursue a Cima qualification.

The Cima country head in Pakistan, Javaria Hassan, congratulated students on their success and commended prize winners in her opening address. Pakistan had three world commendees for their performance in the November 2010 and May 2011 examinations.

“Cima curriculum is based on global research and students across the world sit the same paper, and are marked with the same marking scheme,” said Emerson. “The convocation is a significant milestone, not only for the students who will celebrate their success but also to the CIMA tutors. Your achievement is a result of your dedication and hard work. It is a success you truly deserve and an achievement you have truly earned.” He concluded his speech by thanking the students’ families for their support.

Subzwari, the chief guest, is an accountant by profession.  He praised the institute’s history and its contribution for helping young people. He observed that it had an insignificant presence in Pakistan despite the fact that quite a few Pakistanis still pursue the qualification.

He also called on the fresh graduates to consider entering mainstream politics as professionals with this background are needed to support and drive government initiatives. Press Release
