Bank Security: Customer robbed at cash counter
Man counting notes at the cash counter when a thief snatched some from his hand and ran out of the bank.
LAHORE:
A thief snatched Rs45,000 in cash from a customer counting his money at the Bank of Punjab at Centre Point in Gulberg on Tuesday.
Mehmood Ai had with drawn Rs150,000 and was counting the notes at the cash counter when a middle-aged man snatched some from his hand and ran out of the bank, unimpeded by security, according to the FIR lodged at Gulberg police station. Ali said he chased the man and saw him get into a white Mehran, driven by a woman, and speed away. When he asked bank manager Ghulam Mustafa for the CCTV footage of the incident, he was told that the security cameras were out of order. He alleged that the bank manager was involved. Gulberg ASP Shehzad Bukhari said that he had earlier sealed the bank because of its insufficient security. He said that the bank’s failure to comply with security protocols.
